CHRISTINE ANU RETURNS WITH BLACK IS BLUE 2 SHOWS ONLY

By the request of good friend Brian Lizotte, Christine Anu will return to perform her acclaimed show BLACK IS BLUE at the legendary Lizotte’s.

Set down for July 17 at Lizotte’s Newcastle and September 18 at Lizotte’s Kincumber, Christine Anu, in an intimate concert setting, will honour the great legends of Blues music. Anu will perform timeless classics made famous by the likes of Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Withers and Ray Charles.  Anu will also perform a few signature tunes including Sunshine On A Rainy Day, Party and Island Home.

“Christine is a much loved entertainer and a dear friend of Lizotte’s!  She has been coming to Lizottes for years and is loved by our clientele.  We are always excited to see her.” Says Brian Lizotte from his newly opened Lizotte’s Newcastle.

BLACK IS BLUE made its debut at the Ten Days On The Island Festival in 2007 and subsequently toured the East-Coast of Australia.

“Black Is Blue is a show that I am forever proud of. The music I perform in Black Is Blue resonates in me because throughout my childhood it was all around me. I remember listening to great female blues singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Bill Withers and could feel the truth in the depth of their lyrics because the hardships and survival of the spirit of black people is the same the world over.

BLACK IS BLUE is a celebration of the spirit of the blues, the artists and the songs that makes blues the institution of modern music as we know it today” Says Anu

Anu is no stranger to the Australian entertainment industry. Under her belt, Anu has ARIA award winning albums, acclaimed roles in movies and theatre, invitations to appear on Broadway, a magical cabaret production based on her life, singing to the world in the Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony and even a duet with the Wiggles!

Anu is currently in rehearsals for her portrayal of Gladys in Riverside Theatre’s theatrical production of Rainbow End. At end of the Rainbow End season, Anu will then embark on a NSW tour with her show Ladies Of Jazz – Starring Christine Anu, Grace Knight, Monica Trapaga and Paulini.
