Six more prominent Australians trace their family trees in a second series of the hit TV
genealogy program Who do you think you are? starting on SBS One on September 27 at
7.30pm.

AFL legend Ron Barassi, actors Sigrid Thornton and Ben Mendelsohn, cook Maggie Beer,
singer Christine Anu and musician John Butler all look into their ancestry, seeking the definitive answer to where they came from.

Along the way secrets are uncovered and histories are revealed – with each individual
discovering that their ancestors form an integral part of not only their own identity, but that of the nation. Combining emotional and personal journeys with big-picture history, these inspiring and sometimes challenging stories remind us how Australians have come to be the people we are.

Sunday September 27 at 7.30pm – Ron Barassi
Footy legend and latter day ‘knight in shining armour’ Ron Barassi has always believed that actions speak louder than words. He traces the Barassi family line back to the Austro- Hungarian Empire and Victorian gold rush, discovering a heart-rending tale of violence, tragedy and redemption.
Sunday October 4 at 7.30pm – Sigrid Thornton
Film and TV actress Sigrid Thornton plays detective, uncovering an epic tale of dark deeds and an ancestor whose life was stranger than fiction. Known for her role as the magistrate Laura in SeaChange, she investigates whether her ancestors had a tendency to get into trouble with the law.
Sunday October 11 at 7.30pm – Ben Mendelsohn
Actor Ben Mendelsohn sets out to find if he really is related to the famous composer of the Wedding March – Felix Mendelssohn. He traces his family line back to the heart of Europe and discovers a thread of musical heritage in surprising quarters as well as a heart-rending tale of success, failure and heartbreak.
Sunday October 18 at 7.30pm – Christine Anu
Singer Christine Anu’s ancestry is from the Torres Straits Islands. She wants to understand why music is so important in her life. Her deeply emotional journey takes her to England and the Torres Straits Islands where she discovers a heritage of music and culture beyond her wildest dreams.
Sunday October 25 at 7.30pm – Maggie Beer
Celebrity cook Maggie Beer discovers a larger than life convict bigamist with a penchant for telling very tall tales.
Sunday November 1 at 7.30pm – John Butler
Rock star and activist John Butler hopes to find poets, musicians and revolutionaries in his past. He traces the Butler name through generations of hardship to a matriarch who sang for her survival and traces his Bulgarian ancestry to an ancestor caught up in a violent revolt.
